Options for Unlock PDF

Higher numbers look sharper and create larger files.

You must know the password — this cannot break or guess protection. Pages are re-rendered to produce an unprotected file, so text in the result is no longer selectable.

How to unlock pdf

  1. 1Upload the protected PDF.
  2. 2Enter its password and choose the output resolution.
  3. 3Unlock and download the unprotected copy.

About this tool

Bank statements, payslips and insurance documents often arrive encrypted, and typing the password every single time you open a file you have already saved locally is pointless friction. If you know the password, you are entitled to a copy without it.

Give the tool the password and it opens the document, renders each page and assembles a new, unprotected PDF. That approach is honest about its trade-off: because the pages are re-rendered, the text layer is lost, so the result is a visual copy. Choose the resolution to match how you will use it — 150 DPI for reading, 300 DPI for printing.

The tool will not help with a password you do not have. Guessing or breaking encryption is not attempted, and no password you type is transmitted anywhere: verification happens locally in your browser.

What it's good for

  • Saving a bank statement you can open without re-entering the password each time.
  • Preparing an encrypted document for a tool that cannot handle passwords.
  • Archiving payslips in a folder you already keep secure.
  • Combining protected documents that must be merged.

Features

  • Password stays local

It is used in your browser and never sent anywhere.

  • Resolution choice

    Balance readability against file size.

  • Works on scans

Any page content is reproduced faithfully.

  • Clear limits

No claims about breaking protection you do not hold.

Questions people ask

I don't know the password — can you help?
No. Without the password the content cannot be read, by us or by anyone else.
Why is text no longer selectable?
Pages are re-rendered as images to strip the encryption. Run OCR PDF afterwards to restore searchable text.
Can I add a password instead?
Not currently. Genuine PDF encryption cannot be done reliably in the browser, and we would rather say so than offer something weak.
