How to split pdf pages in half

  1. 1Upload the PDF containing two-up pages or spreads.
  2. 2Choose whether to cut vertically or horizontally.
  3. 3Split and download the document with twice as many pages.

About this tool

Scanning a book with a flatbed captures two pages at once, and two-up handouts print two logical pages on one sheet. Reading those on a phone means constant zooming. Cutting each sheet in half restores one logical page per PDF page.

Each source page is drawn twice into the new document, once cropped to each half, so both halves keep the original resolution and text layer. Choose a vertical cut for side-by-side spreads and a horizontal cut for stacked layouts.

What it's good for

  • Converting a scanned book spread into single pages for e-reader use.
  • Splitting two-up lecture handouts back into individual slides.
  • Separating tickets or vouchers printed two to a sheet.
  • Preparing spreads for single-page printing.

Features

  • Both directions

Vertical for spreads, horizontal for stacked layouts.

  • Keeps quality

Halves are embedded from the original page, not re-photographed.

  • Whole document

Every page is processed in one pass.

  • Predictable order

Left half then right half, page by page.

Questions people ask

What if the fold is not exactly centred?
The cut is at the exact middle. Crop the margins first if your scan is offset.
Does it double my page count?
Yes — each source page becomes two pages.
Can I split into more than two?
Not currently; run the tool twice for a four-up sheet.
