About this tool

Photographs of documents look like photographs: grey paper, uneven lighting, visible shadows. That is fine for reading on a phone but unprofessional when the file is going to an employer, a landlord or a government office, and it makes the PDF far larger than it needs to be.

This tool converts each photo to grayscale, then boosts contrast and brightness so the paper reads as white and the text as black — the look a flatbed scanner produces. The cleaned pages are assembled into one PDF in the order you added them, and the smaller grayscale data means a much lighter file.

Photograph each page square-on in even light for the best results. Perspective correction is not applied, so a page shot at an angle will still look angled.
